This knife simply feels like an extension of my finger; especially when I use it to cut around my curlicue handwriting for a title. I didn’t know hand-cutting could be so easy! Cutting atop a glass ‘mat’ increases your control and maintains a crisp line. For an inexpensive solution, simply remove the glass insert in an unused picture frame.

Instructions
(Print version)
-
Trim a 5x7 landscape photo to measure 4.5x7. Trim a piece of the red faux woodgrain paper from the Outdoors Paper Pack to 5x7.
-
Mount both of these, with the photo atop the paper, to the center of the brown solid paper from the same paper pack. This will form the base of your page.
-
Using a light pencil stroke, script your title word onto the Luster Blueberry Confetti Sorbet paper.
-
Slip a glass mat under your luster paper. With the Fingertip Craft Knife, carefully cut around the lines of the word you’ve scripted, making sure to keep about a ¼” width all the way around each line. For precision, be sure to cut the insides of any closed areas first before cutting the outside perimeter of the word (for example, the sample word “water” has an inner area in the letters “a” and “e”, as well as a loop in the “t” that should be cut out first.) Remember to turn your paper, and not the knife, to get smooth rounded cuts.
-
With adhesive from Tool Taxi, glue your cut word to the page intersecting the photo and red paper.
-
Add circle sticker from Hannah’s Story Element sticker sheet to upper left of photo.
-
Add border sticker from both the Travel & Hannah’s Story Border & Word sticker sheets to bottom border of red faux woodgrain paper.
-
Next, adhere letter stickers for subtitle below and to the right of the hand-cut title word.
-
Using the Fingertip Craft Knife, cut a ¼” strip from the luster paper. On the backside, write the remainder of your subtitle and cut it into pieces, gluing to page left and right of the hand-cut word (as shown.)
-
Again with the Fingertip Craft Knife, cut out the colored frame from one of the word stickers on Hannah’s Story Border & Word sticker sheet.
-
Peel and stick just the frame to the backside of the luster paper. Carefully trim away the paper around this sticker frame with the Fingertip Craft Knife. A metal ruler helps to achieve a perfectly straight line.
-
Finish with your journaling inside of this framed paper piece, and adhere directly to center of bottom border sticker on page.
-
For added definition, shadow title word and journaling box with a black or dark grey marker/pen.
