Valentine’s Day isn’t just for sweethearts!  I’d like to think it’s a time to express your love for anyone you care about.  So I was inspired to make this décor plaque about home and family, based on the sketch below.  I have the plaque displayed on a small wood easel but it can be used as wall décor or the sketch can easily be adapted to create a card or layout as well.

  3. Cut the background cardstock to 12” x 7” and adhere it to thin chipboard.
  4. Then cut a 5” x 14” piece of muslin fabric with the Comfort Grip Rotary Cutter using the Rotary Pinking Blade.
  5. Stamp heart stamps on muslin with Black Staz-On Ink.  Let dry and heat set with an iron.
  6. Adhere fabric to background piece folding edges around and secure with adhesive. 
  7. Stamp FAMILY on paper; trim letters leaving a ¼” - ½” extra above the letter and adhere across bottom right of plaque.
  8. Then machine stitch across top and bottom of fabric edges twice – overlapping FAMILY letters.
  9. Cut 3 – 2.75” x 5” pieces of kraft cardstock and punch top corners with Chip Off the Ole Block Squeeze Punch.
  10. Stamp “home sweet home” stamp using Versamark ink on cardstock tags.  Stagger the design.
  11. Punch 3 small circles with Pop Up Punch and adhere to top of each tag.
  12. Then hole punch center of circles with ¼” Circle Hand Punch and adhere tags on top of fabric as shown.

 

 

  1. For left and right tags, use the Hearts Shape Template to cut graduated hearts from patterned paper and cardstock.  Layer heart shapes and adhere to tags.
  2. For center tag, use Circle Shape Template to cut a 3” circle; trim with Scallop Paper Edgers and adhere to center tag.
  3. Cut a 2.5” circle from patterned paper and adhere to center of scalloped circle.
  4. Stamp another heart image on muslin fabric; cut out with Scallop Fabric Shears and adhere to center circle.
  5. To create the layered flower, cut and punch several (10-12) graduated circles; ink and distress the circle edges; layer and adhere them to the top left corner of the plaque.  Add a button to the center of the flower to complete it.
  6. Squeeze Punch leaves; ink edges and adhere them by tucking them under the flower.

 

 

  1. Use the Woodland Tree template to cut out the bird, its wing and beak; add a black mini brad for an eye and adhere under the flower.
  2. Adhere 2 buttons near the bottom left corner of the fabric.
