Ultra shape express templates aren’t just for paper!! I love to use them as patterns while working with fabric. These quick and easy pillows are appliquéd with designs pieced together from Ultra Shape Express templates. Wth the shapes available, you can make a pillow to match any room!

1. Using Rotary Trimmer, cut 2 pieces of black fabric to 13in x 13in, and 2 pieces of blue fabric to 13in x 13in.
2. Use the Ultra Shape Express templates to make pattern pieces for your appliqué designs. I used the rectangle, diamond and circles to make the rocket, and the circles and stars for the second pillow. Cut out each shape that you trace.
3. Remember that you don’t need to use the shapes as is – I cut the diamonds into halves and fourths to make the triangles that I needed to complete my rocket ship.
4. Lay out your designs and decide on fabric colors for each piece.
5. Follow the directions on your favorite fusible web / interfacing product (I love Heat N Bond!) and iron it onto to the fabric that you will be using on your designs.
6. Use the pattern pieces that you created in step 2 to trim your fabric into shapes. Iron them onto the fabric that will become the front of your pillow.
7. Sew around each of the shapes.
8. Add buttons to the designs.
9. Put your pillow fronts (black fabric w/ your appliqués) and your pillow backs (blue dotted fabric) together, back sides facing out. Sew around the edges, leaving a small gap.
10. Flip the pillow right side out and stuff it. Hand sew the gap shut.
