Nov. 09 card sketch

Designed by: Becky Novacek I enjoy the process of making cards. Typically, I am not organized enough to have a stack of cards ready to go when an occasion calls for one, so I usually make it before I fly out the door! However, this winter, my goal is to have a card making day, so that I can grab one to attach to a gift on my way out the door, personalizing it with my handwritten note on the inside. I can see this card working for many occasions by varying the size and color scheme.

Instructions
(Print version)

1. Take a 8.5”x11” sheet of kraft cardstock and trim it into 2-5”x7” sheets using the Premium Crafter’s Trimmer. 2. Use the Twist and Flip 2-in-1 Corner Punch on all 4 corners of both sheets of kraft cardstock.

3. Front sheet of the card: Use the Oval n Oval Again Squeeze Punch in the center top. All you need to do is push the squeeze punch in from the top of the card as far as it will go and this will put it in the perfect spot. 4. Use the Round n Round Medium Squeeze Punch to create 3 circles. Then cut the circles in half for scallops. Start from the bottom of the card and layer up, using Melissa Frances Ivory Trim, then brown pompom trim and then the scallops you have punched. Continue to layer using a strip of ½” brown cardstock, then a skinny strip of Jenni Bowlin pattern paper, then a ½” strip of Basic Grey pattern paper and another Basic Grey strip about 2 inches wide. You can rough up the edges of the strips and circles with a little sandpaper. At this point, just cut a length of green ribbon and tie at the top of the layering, with the knot landing right below the oval punch. Set the front of the card aside.

5. Inside of card: Trim a piece of Jenni Bowlin pattern paper to 4.5” x 6.5” and then use the Twist and Flip Corner Rounder on the 4 corners of this piece. Adhere to the kraft cardstock, centering. 6. Use a typewriter to type “grateful” (or you can handwrite it) onto vintage ledger paper. Cut into skinny strip and using the front of the card as a guide, adhere to inside. 7. Use the Scalloped Punch Seal of Approval Extra Large on brown cardstock. Then use the Round n Round Large Squeeze Punch on vintage ledger paper. Adhere round piece to scallop brown seal of approval piece. Then set Cameo Ovations “for you” stamp on Compact Stamp Press and stamp onto ledger paper. Use Foam Dots to adhere Seal to inside of card about 1.5” below “grateful” strip. 8. Machine stitch around edge of orange pattern paper and on left side of “grateful” strip. 9. Put the two sheets together and use the 1/16 Circle Hand Punch on upper left corner to punch through both sheets. Put a Making Memories Velvet Brad through and voila!
