I am always trying to rethink ways of using my scrapbooking products. I love to find different ways to use my Fiskars tools. i had the idea of using a border punch, that was punched out, as a mask on a layout, painting over the border punch. I really like the result!

  • Required supplies:
  • Embossing Border Punch-Eyelet Lace
  • Desktop Rotary Trimmer
  • Heidi Grace "Midnight Kisses" paper and embellishments
  • other- cardstock, paint, thread

Instructions (Print version)

1. Use Fiskars Eyelet Lace Embossing Border Punch to punch out an 8.5” x 10 “  template (you can use a scrap piece of cardstock for this).
2. Use template on 8.5”x11” white cardstock background, as a masking to paint over. Tape the template down about ¼” from top and along sides. The more care you take in taping and sealing this, the better the result. When it’s taped, go ahead and carefully paint over template. Using a small brush is helpful in getting into the small eyelets.
3. Set aside to dry.
4. Trim Heidi Grace Shimmer Foiled Mini Floral Paper to 8.5” x 7” and set aside. Trim Heidi Grace Shimmer Foiled Definitions Paper to 8.5” x 1” and set aside.
5. Trim gray rickrack ribbon from Heidi Grace Ribbon Card to 8.5” long.
6. Handwrite journaling onto Heidi Grace Cardstock Journal Mount Sticker and trim to bottom of writing. Add Heidi Grace Dimensional Flower Sticker to the top of Journaling Mount.
7. As soon as the paint is completely dry, begin assembling layout. Adhere Heidi Grace Shimmer Foiled Mini Floral Paper to .5” from the bottom of the eyelets. Adhere Heidi Grace Shimmer Foiled Definitions Paper to .5” above bottom of Mini Floral Paper. Adhere Gray Rickrack ribbon to the bottom of the Shimmered Foil Mini Floral Paper.
8. Add Punchboard Alphas to create title right below Rickrack.
9. Machine stitch 2 rows about ¼” above bottom edge of layout. Also stitch right above Heidi Grace Shimmer Foiled Mini Floral Paper.
10. Adhere 2 vertical 4x6 photos, using the Shimmer Foiled Definitions Paper as a guide.
11. Adhere Cardstock Journaling Mount Sticker with handwritten journaling to the center bottom of layout.
