Halloween Treat Bags & Jar

Designer: Deb Perry

Sometimes all it takes is a little imagination and some creative ‘play’ time to come up with interesting uses for Fiskars Punches.  For example, one of the 3 designs in new 3 in 1 Triple Sized Embossing Corner Punch looked a little like bat wings to me and proved to be the perfect Bag Topper for this year’s Halloween Treats.  It's also the perfect tool to make those quick gift tags when you are running out the door!

Instructions (Print version)

Treat Bags

  1. Trim 2 – 9 ½” x 4” pieces of ‘Icons’ paper.  (Note- I trimmed in between the pumpkins so that each bag had 3) Use Squeeze punch at top to punch hole for peek-a-boo window.
  2. Replace cutting blade with scoring blade in trimmer, and score (wrong side) at the following marks from the top: 3 ½”, ¾”, ¾”, 3 ½” and ½” on both pieces of paper.  Fold at score marks.
  3. Trim 2 – 2” x 4” pieces of White Cardstock.  Score both pieces in the middle –horizontally.  Insert all 4 corners of each piece into Embossing Punch to make decorative corners.  Outline with black marker, and handwrite name on front of card.
  4. Fill treat bags, place inside folded cardstock, and fold over top edge. Add white embossed/punched topper and staple.  (Note-keep the bottom flap free to tuck under the flap for easy treat removal.  Tie ribbons and adhere to treat bag fronts with adhesive foam dot.  Add sticker to cellophane window.

Treat Jar

  1. Trim black cardstock to 3 ¼” x2 ¾”.  Trim patterned paper (orange side) to 3” x 2 ½”.  Trim white cardstock  to 2 ¾” x 2 ¼”.
  2. Insert all 4 corners of white rectangle into Embossing Punch one at a time to make decorative corners.  Add Rub-ons.   Add the word ‘treats’ and outline with black marker.
  3. Mount papers for tag in this order from bottom to top….black, orange and white.
  4. Cut a length of sheer ribbon, tie a ribbon.  Adhere to front of card with foam dot.
  5. Trace outline of jar lid on to dot cardstock and cut out with scissors.  With paper added underneath lid, screw on to jar.  Cut a length of ribbon and glue around jar lid. Attach tag to lid with invisible thread.
  6. Fill jar with Candy Corn.
