Fabric Birthday Card
Designer: Stacey Kingman
When I saw this snapshot, I knew it would be perfect for a birthday card. Since it was old (1952) and a little discolored, I decided to ink and sand everything and sew the card so it would feel homespun and special. Even though this card is intentionally quite imperfect, the measurements really needed to be just right. I cut all of the pieces of this old green gingham curtain with the 45mm Comfort Grip Rotary Cutter, Easy-to-Read Ruler and Cutting Mat because they make it so easy to measure everything perfectly!

Instructions
(Print version)
-
Trim two pieces of cardstock to 5 ¾ ” X 5 ¾”.
-
-
Using the 45mm Comfort Grip Rotary Cutter, Easy-to-Read Ruler and Cutting Mat, cut two pieces of fabric to 6 ½” X 13”.
-
-
With the Tape Runner, adhere the cardstock to the left side of the fabric, leaving ¼” around the outside edges of the fabric. Cover with the other piece of fabric. Machine stitch around the outside of the fabric-covered cardstock. This will be the front side of the card. Repeat these steps for the right-hand side.
-
-
Fold the card closed. Machine stitch the left side of the card so that it has a bit of a “spine.” Ink the fabric lightly.
-
-
Cut two squares of the It’s My Party floral paper to 5 ½” X 5 ½”. Ink lightly. Stitch to front and inside. Do not stitch the card closed.
-
