calendar bookClick image to enlarge Designer: Stacey Kingman I keep a big calendar at home, but I can’t carry it with me. This little calendar is designed to fit in my purse and be the place where I write anything important – anything. I can write appointments in it and then transfer them to my main family calendar when I get home. I can also write myself “to-do” notes and record fun little sayings I hear from my kids while we’re out. I can attach small notes, receipts, sketches and other items or I can jot a reminder that I have something important from a particular day so I won’t forget to look for it when it’s time to make a layout. At the end of November, I’ll make another little purse calendar and store this one (overflowing with great memories and reminders) where I can pull it out when I start scrapbooking these days. As much as I absolutely love all things crafty and cute, I wanted to first make sure that this book would be durable and not overly embellished so it ccould stand up to life in my purse. I love the way composition books are so tough, but I wanted something smaller, so I cut one in half (the rotary cutter made this a snap!). This particular composition book is a Primary book with blank paper at the top and wide-lined paper at the bottom – I used the top blank part first and the next little calendar I make will have cool elementary lined pages. I didn’t want the pages to get all bent and folded (remember it lives in my purse), so I created a tie that is sewn to the covers – these fabric strips will not be coming off! – so book will stay closed and the pages will stay flat. ![]() So, there you have it: completely functional, durably cute, small enough to ride in your purse, and inexpensive. No more excuses for all those (lost) little slips of paper you have had in the past – write important stuff down in your half-of-a-composition-book-purse-calendar and be most organized girl on the block! Instructions (Print version) ![]() 1. Measure 4 ¼” from the top of the composition book. Hold clear ruler over the book and cut with rotary cutter, rolling the cutter back and forth until you’ve cut all the way through. Round the bottom corner of the cover and pages where the cut was made.
