Baby Girl Canvas

Designer: Becky Novacek

Making your own custom art pieces is not only fun, it's addictive! This piece is a great way to use your scrap pattern paper pieces and I love the added texture achieved with the 4-in-1 Prince Charming embossing punch.

Instructions (Print version)

  1. Using acrylic paints, paint the canvas pink. After the pink dries, add a few strokes of cream paint.
  2.
  3. While paint is drying, cut 37- 1 3/4 inch squares. Use the desktop trimmer and make strips from pattern papers and vintage bookpage and then cut into squares. Very quick and simple.
  4.
  5. Use the 4-in-1 Prince Charming embossing punch on about 1/2 of the squares. This adds such amazing texture and interest to the piece!
  6.
  7. When paint is dry, start placing the squares on the canvas, leaving space for stickers and letters. This canvas would be great personalized with a name too. When you have your design the way you want it, simply gather all the squares in order and set the stack aside. Tip: make a small pencil mark in the spaces that will be used for the sticker letters.
  8.
  9. Use a wet adhesive to apply squares to canvas. Stick letters and circle stickers down as well.
  10.
  11. When the design is all down on the canvas, apply decoupage medium. Apply at least 2 coats.
