January 2010 Layout SketchClick image to enlarge I love a big title on a scrapbook layout. Sometimes that's a fortunate thing because I have a lot of space to fill and not much content. Other times I struggle to fit everything on my layout and a big title only increases my frustration. When it happens that I'm working on one of those frustrating busy layouts, I find that containing the title within well-defined boundaries minimizes the look of just throwing things in an empty space. If that well-defined boundary also happens to have a striking pattern punched into it, that gives it an even more purposeful appearance. So for this 1-page layout with 5 photos, I used the Fiskars Aurora Circle Border Punch to contain my big title.

Instructions (Print version) ![]() The Circle Border Punches give you the option to create 2 different sized circles. You can begin with either a 4" or a 6" circle. I chose the 6" circle for this layout. After making your initial punch, there is a pattern printed on the punch base which you use align the punched portion. Lining this up carefully after each punch leaves you with an perfectly uniform intricate pattern around your circle's edge in under a minute. ![]() Another
thing I like to do is use themed products in atypical ways. My
mother-in-law is constantly bringing little gifts to my sons. Since it's So with 2 easy-to-use Fiskars tools, I created 2 attention grabbing embellishments for my busy layout.
