I like to make things that are not only fun to look at, but that have a sort of purpose. If I can include a photo, that’s all the better! This small calendar combines function, customization, and it’s kinda sweet to look at. I’m Becky Novacek and you can check out what I’m up to at www.beckynovacekphotography.com.

Instructions (Print version)

  1. There are many websites that offer free calendar templates. I simply googled “free blank calendar templates” and had a plethora to choose from. Save the template you like and size it in photoshop. I sized mine at 3” x 3”.
  2. I copied and pasted the template onto a new file sized at 8.5” x 11” 3 times –twice side by side and then I rotated the template and added it at the bottom of the new file.

  1. Flatten the layers and save the document. At this point you can decide if you would like to add your photos and print them out with photos already added OR you can choose to print calendars at this point and then add wallet sized photos to the preprinted calendar. (January sample is printed with photo copied and pasted and then printed out, February was printed and then a wallet photo (2”x3”) was adhered to the calendar)
  2.  Use your 12” Premium Crafter’s Trimmer to trim around each calendar leaving a little more than ½ inch around each border. The finished calendar pages will measure 6”x3”.

  3. After you have your 12 pages cut out, you can begin to punch out your edges using your Fiskars Border Punches or your Fiskars Decorative Edge Scissors.

  4. I used a different edge design on each calendar page.
  5. I wanted to keep the designs simple, so I just added a bit of vintage rickrack (using a wet adhesive) and mini letter stickers. I plan to handwrite my numbers on each page. The Fiskars Birthday Stamp Set includes numbers that would work well for this too.
  6. The potential for embellishment is great for this project, so go crazy!
  7. When you are satisfied with your pages, take your ¼” Rectangle Hand Punch and punch through layers at top center. Tie a ribbon through and you are set!
