Flower Party Spoons

Plastic cutlery can be found in many colors, but that's about as exciting as they come. Why not turn such a utilitarian item into party decor? It's all in the details. A simple way to add pizazz to plastic is with one of my very favorite tools, the craft hand drill! It easily creates holes to anchor embellishments, from festive ribbon to button flowers. For my flower party, I drilled two small holes into each spoon to secure simple button flowers with embroidery floss. If you have more than one type of utensil, it's helpful to label the holder as I've done here so your guests won't have to guess.

1. Drill two holes into each spoon handle using smallest drill bit (being sure to protect work surface).

2. Thread button and flower through holes to secure to each spoon.
