Mirror, Mirror...

The possibilities for decorating a mirror in your own home (or for a gift) are endless. With some fiskars tools, paper, and anything else you please you can quickly turn a plain mirror into a beautiful accent piece.

This fun mirror project uses a wooden tile board and mirror squares to create a window-like home décor piece. A quick glance in this mirror is sure to make you smile everyday!

I used the Fiskars Threading Water border punch on the outer edges of the patterned squares to add interest. The XL Oopsie Daisy punch made it easy to create flowers…and rain dots make the perfect centers! Cloud 9 Designs Cinnamon Stick line help to give the project rich color, while sparkle diecuts & dimensional stickers add a little extra bling!

Every morning the last thing I do before I leave the house is look in the mirror (can't take off with toothpaste on my face!)  I thought it would be nice to have a little extra positive note before heading out, so when I started to create this mirror I wanted to include a happy message.  The Li'l Davis paper was the perfect bright and happy accessory for covering my mirror with.  I painted the chipboard letters in white so that they would be easily readable.  A border made with the help of paper edgers and rows of buttons help give the mirror some finishing touches.

I wanted a small decorative mirror to go in my daughter's bathroom that goes with the ocean decor without it being too grown-up or serious looking. I found this mirror with two holes drilled in it and purchased an oval wood plaque to mount it on. Using my Fiskars craft drill I marked and drilled the two holes needed into the wood and then tied the mirror to the wood with Heidi Grace ribbon. After that I stamped some images (Heidi Grace by the sea) onto cardstock and colored in with pens and cut out with a craft knife. I also punched stars (twinkle, twinkle L squeeze punch) and painted chipboard with glitter glaze (lil davis) as well. Some Heidi Grace flowers, Cloud 9 rain dots, and random tiny shells I had finished this project off better than I had hoped!

Putting it all together was a snap- and I think I will be making a few more of these for gifts in the near future. I can just imagine all of the themes and color schemes I could utilize- fun!

The next time you think about buying a decorative mirror consider buying it plain and decorating it yourself- with the help of your trusty Fiskars tools, of course!
