Janna WilsonI'm Janna Wilson, and I like to call myself…well, “crafty!” …In a good way, of course. My crafting interest is definitely not limited to paper crafting—which is a huge reason that I am such a lover of all things Fiskars. My favorite things are Fiskars cutting tools, especially scissors. Paper Edgers, Pinking Shears, Scallop Shears, rotary blades, and my trusty Classic No. 5 Microtips…couldn’t live without them! My newest, beloved pair is my Scallop Fabric Shears…ahhh, I love these things! Give me a pair of orange handled scissors and I’m a happy camper! The only problem is—keeping them out of the hands of the kids!! I have skull and cross bones on my good fabric scissors as a deterrent –of course that still doesn’t work!
So its obvious…I like to cut stuff (just call me Janna-Scissorhands). Well, I wanted to show you a couple of reasons that every crafter should own a pair of Classic No. 5 Microtips (and some decorative Fabric Shears too). Not only are they perfectly precise and super sharp, they’re small and easy to handle. Perfect for cutting the teeniest paper bits and I use them for sewing and snipping stitches just as often. ![]() Take a look at this little project—first, it’s made from recycling some scrapbook product packaging (an idea I picked up online) to create a little gift which is such a fun idea! You can replace the original packaging card inside with your own design. I used a vintage dictionary page combined with some of the lovely Kimberly Poloson papers and embellishments. For fun dimension, adhere some of the elements to the OUTSIDE of the package as well, I included butterflies, stickers and typed labels.
…if you look closer, yes, you’ll see the dainty details of the butterflies are amazing! With the Microtips you are able to cut even details such as the antennas perfectly! Of course, it takes a bit of care—but these scissors make it so easy! I love the challenge of creating delicate and intricate shapes such as this. ![]() Rather than reaching for yet another tool, often, I also like to use these little scissors to tweeze small items. Placing small stickers or die cuts on a project is a breeze with the help of the small tips.
Finish off the back of this little package with a note to your recipient.
