Flying With Scissors

Flying With Scissors

Although it is not wise to run with scissors, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is now supporting those who fly with scissors.

The TSA's shear acceptance will begin December 22, 2005, and will include the following guidelines:

  • Scissors are now permitted if pointed tips and a cutting edge are four inches or less, as measured from the fulcrum.
  • Some tools are now permitted, including screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers and other tools if seven inches or less in length (except crowbars, drills, hammers, and saws).
